Art Boosters
The WTW Art Boosters is a parent-organized, PTSO-sponsored group dedicated to making one of the best visual arts programs in Fairfax County even better. We invite you to learn all about the Art Boosters and to participate!
Please visit our new web site at artboosters.woodsonptso.org.

Unified Prevention Coalition
We invite you to check out the newly redesigned web site of the newly independent Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County at www.unifiedpreventioncoalition.org. It is still a work in progress, and we welcome your suggestions. We also look forward to highlighting our partners' activities, so please let us know of upcoming events by forwarding information to UPC Communications Associate Becky York at communications@unifiedpreventioncoalition.org.

Frost-Woodson Special Services
Frost-Woodson Special Services is a parent-student-teacher interest group, affiliated with both the Woodson PTSO and the Frost PTA, whose goal is to provide information, resources, and support to students receiving special education services and their families. "Special education services" comprise a range of support, generally delivered through a student's IEP or Section 504 plan. Check out our Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WoodsonSpecEd/.

Understanding the Woodson Parent Pledge
The Woodson Community Coalition is in place to proactively support our parents and students regarding alcohol and drug abuse on our campus and in our community. We are one of many parent-led Community Coalitions who are active throughout Fairfax County schools. We are committed to offering educational seminars and other helpful information to our parents and students on the critical issue of alcohol and drug abuse.

The consequences for not engaging proactively on this topic are serious. So please, click here to read more on this important topic, and understand the purpose of the Woodson High School Safe and Drug Free Parent Pledge.

PTSO-Sponsored Mock ACT/SAT/PRA Exams
The Woodson PTSO offers students a chance to hone their college entrance exam test-taking skills through our "mock exam" program. On Saturday, January 21, we will offer full-length practice ACT and SAT exams. Scores are not "official" and are only released to students as a means of helping them identify areas of strength and areas needing improvement. These full-length tests, administered by the Princeton Review, allow students additional test-taking opportunities in preparation for college entrance exams.

Registration forms for the January exams must be received by Friday, January 6, 2012.

For more information and an application, please see this form.

STUDENT DRIVER
Car Magnets
These great magnets are still available in the front office -- just $8 each or 3 for $20! Both students and parents appreciate the added awareness of other drivers as they complete their 45 (or more) hours behind the wheel with a qualified driver now required before a license can be obtained.

Place the yellow-and-black STUDENT DRIVER magnets on all cars being driven, driver's door, parent's door, back of vehicle.... Everyone will feel safer.
